Philly in the Springtime

With all the spring cleaning, decluttering and garden projects underway, I took a little time out to enjoy one of my favorite spring flings, craft festivals. Each spring in May Art Star Gallery in Philadelphia hosts the Art Star Craft Bazaar, one of the best featuring local and regional indy craft. I decided to bring along my partner in design crime for a quick girls’ getaway in the beautifully historic and trendy Philadelphia.

After settling our bags and touching up our makeup at the hotel, we dashed over to 13th Street in midtown and picked El Vez restaurant for our girls’ night out. The Mexican and American cuisine with with fun and campy atmosphere delighted all our five senses. Even though the reputation for their margaritas was notorious, we splashed the evening with their fresh and flavorful Blanca Sangria.

Next day, we cruised over to Penn’s Landing to the craft bazaar, ready to be inspired and Art Star didn’t disappoint. Here are just a few of my favorites:

Hilary Treadwell of Bit & Little Bit

Hilary hand silk-screens unique tees for adults to kiddos with her flair for the whimsy. I couldn’t resist when I saw this “Go outside and play” tee for my punkin’:

And speaking of punkin’, since I am the world’s worse mom in not decorating punkin’s nursery with a master theme and explosion of cuteness, I am working on creating my own whimsy in her bedroom. Laura George‘s art and illustration was the perfect choice for some original art to add to her room.  I chose a totem print that I can’t wait to hang up on her wall.

Stay tuned for a future post on my punkin’s whimsical bedroom in progress.

These were just a few of the delights I saw on Mother’s Day Weekend. Visit the link: to see descriptions and links to all the vendors at the bazaar.

Philly, I am crushing on you this season. Can’t wait to hang out with you again.
